Adult One-on-One Dog Training

If your dog is pulling on the lead, jumping up, counter surfing, barking excessively, chewing excessively, suffering from separation anxiety or showing any other sign of obsessive behaviour, then your dog has behavioural problems. The root cause of behavioural issues in dogs is a lack of leadership.

To solve behavioural problems in dogs, it is essential to know how dogs think and how they perceive the environment they live in. You have to see the world through the dog's eyes. Even though dogs are a well-loved part of our lives and society, dogs do not completely understand our society and how to live in it. That is why the human leader has to show them the way constantly.

No matter what behavioural problems your dog may have, Paws4Success coaches you, through personalised sessions, to understand and apply the four pillars of dog leadership, transforming your dog into a well-behaved and emotionally stable dog.

Don't miss out on this transformative opportunity for your dog and build the peaceful and harmonious relationship with your dog you always wanted.

One-on-One Puppy Training

There is no feeling more exceptional than bringing a puppy home. These cute furry friends bring joy and happiness into our lives, filling any house with excitement. However, managing a puppy through its foundational period and supporting it to grow into a confident, calm and well-mannered puppy can bring various challenges.

Puppies brought home are usually prone to high stress and anxiety levels since the puppy has been removed from the dam and the litter mates. They are moved into an environment that they do not understand. The time frame from week 3 to week 16, the socialisation period, is a foundational period in a dog's life. During this time, the puppy needs to be exposed to certain stimuli. Lack of exposure to multiple stimuli at this stage can lead to behavioural issues in the future, such as the puppy becoming fearful, anxious or aggressive. This lack of exposure results in 80% of dogs under three years being euthanised.

Through our personalised training approach, Paws4Success will devise a unique plan for your puppy based on its age and needs and help you through the foundational socialisation period of a puppy to help it become a well-mannered dog. Our services range from guiding how to find a puppy to fit your lifestyle and living situation, testing for a puppy's personality while still in the litter, to selecting a puppy from the litter. We provide advice on managing the challenges of bringing your puppy home; we teach the importance of the first two days and how to support your puppy through these initial days at your home. Rescue Dog Behaviour Training

Rescue dogs are special dogs different from typical dogs with different needs and different training requirements. Dogs are brought to rescue centres for many reasons. Many dogs taken to rescue centres have had traumatic experiences that make it very difficult for these dogs to trust humans.

Additionally, the traumatic experience of being rehomed and entering a boisterous environment with very high-level activity can make the dog feel threatened and alienated. The heightened stress levels can result in several behavioural issues, e.g., hyperactivity, excessive barking, excessive chewing and aggression, making it difficult for them to adjust to a house environment.

Successfully rehoming a dog requires seeing the world from the dog's perspective. It is by applying the dog leadership principles to send the right signals to the dog, preventing them from indulging in unwanted behaviour. Sending the right signals also calms a dog and removes any sort of confusion that your canine friend might be experiencing. This helps to break the cycle that results in unwanted behaviour.

Training rescue dogs are not much different from training typical dogs. That's where dog behaviour training can benefit you and your rescue dogs. Applying the four pillars of leadership will enable you, the dog owner, to effectively communicate with your dog in a language your dog understands. It will help you build the trusted relationship with your dog you have longed for.

New to Dog Ownership

Thinking about adding a dog to your life or family is very exciting. Having a loyal canine companion who shows unconditional love can bring tremendous joy to your life. Owning a dog, however, is a huge and lifelong commitment. If you wish to bring a dog into your life, especially if you are new to dog ownership, there are several things you will need to know and consider before deciding to bring a dog into your home. The below questions form a part of things that you, as a prospective dog owner, need to consider. For puppy ownership, things become more complex and are described in more detail on the 'Puppies' page.

Sometimes a specific breed is not suitable because of the presence of children. Or the dog might require a very active lifestyle and might not be ideal for owners with a sedentary lifestyle. In such situations, both the dog owner and the dog can experience frustrations, leading to unwanted behaviours. In extreme cases, it can be required for the dog to be rehomed. Being rehomed is a very stressful situation for the dog and its owners and can be avoided by planning and considering all aspects involved in dog ownership.

How Do You Transition a Dog to a New Owner?

Paws4Success aims are twofold: To coach dog owners to establish and maintain leadership to transform their dog, resolving any unwanted and/or unacceptable behaviours. Secondly, prevention of the like by:

b) coaching owners on the 4 pillars of dog leadership by establishing and maintaining a trusted, peaceful and harmonious relationship with their dog while laying a sound foundation for obedience and, later on, more advanced training, if desired, leading to a well-mannered and confident dog.

After consulting with you about your situation, a comprehensive report is given to you that recommends specific breeds suited to your lifestyle, the breed-specific characteristics, exercise requirements and common health conditions associated with this breed.

We can develop a breed-specific exercise plan to ensure your dog gets the mental and physical stimulation needed to be a content dog.

Contact Paws4Success to have us coach you in everything you need to know about dog ownership before you bring your dog home. Get it right the first time. Place your future life with your dog on a sound foundation of knowledge and understanding.
